Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to high school students with disabilities including learning physical emotional and behavioral disabilities.
• Work with students individually or in small groups using various teaching methods and accommodations to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Collaborate with school counselors occupational therapists psychologists and parents to help children develop and socialize.
• Maximize the learning experience of students with special needs.
• Address specific needs and document teaching progress and outcomes.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field is usually required. Some positions may require a master’s degree.
• Candidates must hold a valid teaching license or certification in special education. Specific requirements may vary by state.
• Prior experience working with students with disabilities is beneficial. Some schools may prefer candidates with classroom experience.
• Strong communication skills patience and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
• Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) behavior management techniques and assistive technologies is essential.
