As a hands-on professional, you will represent our US safety program. You will actively solve problems, identify risks, and prevent injury on our projects.

As the Senior Safety Manager, you will report directly to the VP of Construction and be responsible for the overall management of our US safety program, it’s outcomes and taking it to new heights. This includes:

  • Compliance: Your main responsibility will be to ensure that all team members comply with our safety policies and local regulations, such as OSHA, MSHA, EM 385, and others.
  • Training: You will educate our workforce on the importance of maintaining a safe environment and support new hire, annual, and project-specific training.
  • Site Visits: A significant part of your role will involve visiting job sites nationwide and interacting with field staff, clients, and our divisional leadership teams. This is to ensure the highest level of safety in our operations and navigate the complexities of safe construction operations.
  • Culture: Your role goes beyond mere compliance. It's about inspiring others, promoting our company's culture that prioritizes our people and emphasizes safety as our top priority- teamwork being the key.
  • Troubleshooting: You will proactively identify project-related issues through risk assessments, audits, and participating in project kickoffs, among other proactive measures.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members. You will motivate and empower our teams to prioritize safety. Regular field check-ins serve as an important support aspect of this role, making you the trusted face and expert of our safety department.
  • Innovation: Take the lead in enhancing our programs by completing post-project reviews for all projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Your valuable insights will contribute to refining project processes and ensuring consistency in lessons learned.
  • Streamline Communication & Processes: Identify opportunities to improve communication and safety processes across the organization.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the right candidate will possess the following:

  • 7+ years of proven experience in safety management, demonstrating a successful track record in managing risks.
  • Ability to build and foster strong team relationships, with a focus on effective communication and client-centered service. 5+ years of leadership experience managing field teams and other safety professionals is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including a strong background in using the Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to work autonomously while providing crucial support to ensure smooth construction operations.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment, contributing to innovative problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and maintenance of strategic alliances with industry organizations.
  • Skilled in resource management, ensuring prudent use of corporate resources to optimize efficiency and achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Preferred but not required: safety management within the construction industry and an understanding of construction processes is advantageous.
  • This exciting role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with in-person support at our 3 US divisions and their project sites. Expected travel requirements will be 60-70%.
