The Opportunity:

JOB SUMMARY

As Senior Manager of Hair Category Engagement and Brand Operations you will be responsible for developing comprehensive, client-centric training and content approx. 30%, brand partnership strategies that best support our employees with category, product, and brand knowledge. These strategies will focus on building employee expertise that drives sales and conversion while providing excellent client experience. You will manage a team that develops content related to training and development of the Hair category and product knowledge, along with how hair brands are onboarded to support and operate with our Sephora Freestanding stores and Sephora @ Kohls locations.

You will serve as the subject matter expert on hair training and education for the organization and the primary contact for our Hair brand partners and merchants and develop the total Hair category and brand training strategy. This leader must work closely within their team to develop skills and drive excellence brand management, quality deliverables, clear communication, and program execution and analysis while meeting key deadlines. You must ensure the voice of the store is always represented in design, execution, and change management to ensure adoption in store. This position will directly report to the Director, Category Engagement and Brand Operations.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executing analysis data to identify gaps and propose effective solutions that build on employee knowledge and skill and deliver learning objectives that are aligned with the determined goals and KPIs.
  • Ensure consistency in the quality of training, programs, initiatives, and deliverables launched by the team/department through regular reviews and audits, use of templates, team meetings and feedback from stakeholders and target audience.
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with stakeholders and cross functional teams proposing recommendations and innovative learning solutions to solve organization needs as related to brand and Hair category content providing program content updates accordingly
  • Regularly meet with and present to leadership across business functions, as well as brand partners, to provide program updates and recommendations to influence strategies to drive efficiency and a positive client and employee experience.
  • Coach, mentor and develop direct reports, including overseeing new employee onboarding, and providing career development planning and opportunities
  • Stay connected to industry trends, philosophies, and training practices within retail, beauty, and social spaces
  • Perform as on-camera spokesperson in Sephora-created videos, facilitate virtual trainings, as needed

 

CATEGORY

  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on the Hair category and identify training needs and gaps for store employees
  • Create/curate personalized and relevant content to develop Hair product and category knowledge that support the client experience
  • Ensure collaboration and coordination across design teams to drive the overall Hair category strategies and organizational initiatives
  • Partner with support teams on instructional design, production, and delivery of innovative curriculums while identifying and communicating any risks to success of Hair training

 

BRAND

  • Design and develop brand education strategies that are sustainable, flexible, and adaptable for the ever-changing store environment
  • Utilize analysis of sales, business reporting and market/industry research to guide and develop education strategies that include fiscal responsibility and added value for brands
  • Establish and maintain strong, positive brand and merchant relationships that promote collaboration, innovation, and improvement of brand education for stores
  • Provide regular review sessions with brands to connect on successes, share identified risks, address opportunities, and provide creative solutions regarding training and effectiveness of brand field training teams, training product and brand assets
  • Ensure consistency in the quality of brand training content, programs, initiatives, and deliverables through regular touchpoints
  • Provide direction and guidance to hair brands on Sephora Brand Education Programming to support Beauty Advisor brand and product knowledge and expertise that drive sales objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programming
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop people
  • 5+ years of experience in retail management or beauty education with ability to connect product, hair category knowledge to the retail environment
  • Proven ability to manage projects and partner with various levels in the organization
  • High-level attention to detail and accuracy in execution of work and tasks with ability to manage workload with shifting priorities
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint , Office and preferred experience with project management tools (Smartsheet, Box, etc.)
  • Ability to travel as required, APPROX. 5%
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline is preferred or equivalent experience
  • Cosmetology license and/or equivalent hair industry expertise is preferred

The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000.00 - $165,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
