DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, provides coordination and technical support for the Tissue Services and Tissue Recovery divisions of Lifesharing. Duties to include screening potential donors according to protocols established by Lifesharing and its processing partners, and coordination of the donation. These duties include the review of available medical records to determine the eligibility of tissues for transplantation and research; consultation with, and allocation of authorized tissues to, processing partners; completes and maintains donor records in the Lifesharing eMR; and the coordination of the logistics of the donation. Duties may also involve assistance of the recovery team during the donation to include OR circulation and the packaging and scheduling of the shipment of cadaveric tissue components for transplantation, research and medical education. Assists with Lifesharing professional and public education to also include Funeral Home Outreach and Hospital Outreach duties as assigned. Experience in the areas of the Tissue environment – to include Medical Records review, Team Coordination and OR circulation – is preferable. Good communication skills and works well with related outside agencies. Speaks and writes Basic English. Must possess basic computer knowledge. Able to attend mandatory Lifesharing meetings, Tissue Bank meetings and training webinars. Performs other duties as assigned and follows UC San Diego Health System Core Values.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from college with a major in an applicable Natural Science or two years of college courses in the Natural Sciences plus two years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience and the knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

• Possess a valid California driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.

• Ability to interpret medical terminology for proper patient chart reviews.

• Demonstrated ability to properly interpret a medical chart.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively with individuals including executive and management leaders, physicians, clinical and support staff.

• Ability to work with deceased individuals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Two (2) years of relevant experience in the Organ or Tissue field.
• Aseptic field experience.
• Knowledge of current policies and directives related to organ and tissue donation.
• Knowledge of American Association of Tissue Banks policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Food and Drug Association standards and regulations.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,999 - $80,868 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.13 - $38.73

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
