Department Description:
The Department of Learning and Teaching's strong commitment to diversity is reflected in our full-time faculty, and the PhD and Masters program enrollment. Currently, 69% of our full-time faculty are faculty of color; 78% of students in the PhD program are students of color, 69% are women, and many are the first in their families to pursue higher education; and over 40% of students in the Masters program are students of color. The Department includes a fully online PhD program in Education for Social Justice, both credential and master's degree programs in elementary education, secondary education, special education, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and a fully online Master's of education program for experienced K-12 teachers. The Department of Learning and Teaching and USD have a strong commitment to diversity and to global education. Faculty candidates should be committed to working with diverse students and populations as well as an interest in fostering community engagement at the local, national, and global levels. The department has developed strong collaborative relationships with local schools and districts to provide an array of practicum, student teaching, and action research sites. In addition, all graduate students are required to participate in at least one global education experience prior to graduation.

Detailed Description:
The Department of Learning and Teaching is seeking college instructors or credentialled public school personnel with a minimum of 5 years of K-12 classroom experience capable of teaching Educational Research Methods.

  • Provide instruction on quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods educational research studies; prepare educational professionals to access and critically consume educational research findings to support and extend their own inquiries. Student work will culminate in a final research proposal. This course is a prerequisite to the final capstone course, in which students will conduct their proposed research.

Assignments to this course are considered lecturer and non-benefit-based. Each course consists of 3 units of teaching credit and the maximum allowable for each non-benefits-based instructor is 6 units. Episodic need during Fall (Sept - Dec) or Spring semesters (end Jan - May).

Job Requirements:

Posting Salary:
Lecturer I: $6735 | Lecturer II: $7035 for a 3 unit course | Based on degree/education



The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
