Education and Promotions Specialist Department: Workforce Training
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
This position is key to outreach activities for MTEC non-credit programming with employers, the community and potential students for non-degree programs. The position must work closely with the College Communications Department, Graphics, Printing, Student Services and external partners (employers, community-based organizations) to create and organize promotional activities for non-credit programs and grant projects. This person sets up communication via electronic, text-based, flyers, etc. with current students and employers and reports to the Dean of the School of Workforce Training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Serve as a liaison with content experts and printing services to create a series of student success reports for various grant funded projects and non-credit programs.
- Direct marketing and communication in collaboration with committees and other cross college teams including but not limited to the Provost's Office, Communications, and the Office of the President.
- Gather and organize information to plan outreach activities for college specific events for School of Workforce Training.
- Direct, motivate and monitor the mobilization of promotions and outreach team in Workforce Training to advance enrollment and public relations.
- Gather and organize information to plan outreach activities for college specific events including but not limited to the School of Workforce Training.
- Inspect layouts and advertising copy and edit scripts, audio and video tapes, and other promotional material of adherence to specifications.
- Plan and prepare advertising and promotional materials with the college communications department and external partners to increase sales of products or services, working with customers, company officials, community based organizations, sales departments and media.
- Confer with clients to provide outreach or technical advice for GRCC Workforce Training programs.
- Confer with program managers and/or department heads in various schools to discuss topics such as promotional material for programs, trainings, classes and workshops.
- Prepare budgets and submit estimates for promotional costs as a part of program development.
- Plan and work with the Communications Department to execute advertising policies and strategies.
- Collaborate, collect and analyze promotional data, using web traffic metrics, such as page visits, transaction size, link popularity, click through rates and cost-per clicks.
- Plan and collaborate promotional activities, such as ad placement, affiliate programs, email promotions or marketing campaigns on social media web sites for Workforce Training.
- Collaborate with other marketing/communications staff to integrate and complement promotional strategies across multiple channels.
- Communicate and collaborate with businesses, webmasters, bloggers, and online editors to place enrollment oriented hyperlinks in high-traffic locations.
- Conduct research analysis to identify electronic and traditional commerce trends, market opportunities or competitor marketing performance.
- Coordinate enrollment, sales, or other promotional strategies with operations and program staff to ensure catalogs and educational materials are current and accurate.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position can work effectively through remote work one day a week. Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials - Bachelor's degree in Applied Arts, Communication, or Business (minors in broadcasting, journalism, advertising, ecommerce, or social media preferred).
- Certificate in e-marketing preferred.
Work Experience - 3-5 years experience working in marketing, media, advertising, colleges or non-profits required.

Physical Demands - Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 lb. boxes.
- Must have the ability to drive to various locations in west Michigan.
Mental Demands - Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse educational and community setting.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and to effectively work as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.

- Must be able to work with deadlines and quick turn around of materials.
- Some schedule flexibility is needed to attend events or activities. Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours 80% of the time. There is the opportunity for some schedule flexibility to meet work needs. (Add travel requirements here)
