NorthPoint Aviation is seeking a certified flight instructor (CFI) to join our professional trained Flight Instruction Department in Brainerd, Minnesota. Reporting to the Flight Instruction Department Manager, the primary responsibility is to provide ground and flight instruction to students pursuing various levels of pilot certification.

Responsibilities
- Flight Instruction: CFIs conduct pre-flight briefings to outline objectives, flight plans, and safety procedures. During flight sessions, the CFI will provide hands-on instruction in the cockpit, teaching students the principles of flight, aircraft control, navigation, emergency procedures, and other essential skills.
- Ground Instruction: In addition to flight training, CFIs deliver ground instruction on topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, weather theory, regulations, airspace, navigation techniques, and flight planning. This may involve classroom lectures, one-on-one tutoring, or computer-based training.
- Student Assessment and Progress Tracking: CFIs assess student performance during flight and ground sessions, providing constructive feedback to help students improve their skills. This includes tracking student progress and maintaining detailed records of training activities, flight hours, and achievements in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Safety Oversight: CFIs prioritize safety at all times, ensuring that students understand and adhere to standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and aviation regulations. CFIs instill a safety-conscious mindset in their students and demonstrate safe flying practices through their own behavior and decision-making.
- Curriculum Development: CFIs may be involved in developing or updating training curriculum, lesson plans, and educational materials to align with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and technological advancements in aviation.
- Customer Service: CFIs serve as mentors and advisors, offering guidance and support to students as they progress through their training. CFIs also assist students with administrative tasks such as scheduling flights, coordinating with examiners for check rides, and obtaining necessary endorsements and certifications.
- Continuing Education: CFIs are required to maintain their own proficiency and stay current with changes in aviation regulations, technology, and instructional techniques. They may attend training seminars, workshops, and refresher courses to enhance their knowledge and skills.
- Professional Conduct: CFIs are expected to uphold professional standards of conduct and ethics, demonstrating integrity, reliability, and professionalism in their interactions with students, colleagues, and other members of the aviation community.
- Flight instruction hours will include nights and weekends as well as during the week, based upon student schedule availability and flight department managers scheduling.
Certified flight instructors (CFIs) play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of pilots, imparting the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for safe and competent flight operations.
Qualifications
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFII) certificate (preferred, not required)
- FAA Certified Multi Engine Instructor (Optional)
- Dedication to safety and adherence to aviation regulations
- Valid FAA Medical Certificate for ratings held
- Current knowledge of relevant aviation technologies and instructional methods
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
