Job description
Wholesale Food Distributor located in Tempe (I-10 and Elliot) has an opening for an experienced Class A Box Truck "Hands on DELIVERY" Driver for a Monday through Friday Route.
(Home 5 nights a week, stay in Hotel 2 nights a week in El Paso)
Usually, 50 to 55 hours a week. You will likely work 55 to 60 hours in first few months until you learn the product and routes well
LOCAL Hands-on Deliveries are made using hand dolly to Japanese Restaurants and to some grocery stores.
Monday and Tuesday work locally in Phoenix generally 8 hours plus hours
7:00 am until finished - usually between 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Local routes include Maricopa County as well as routes to Flagstaff, Yuma, and Tuscan (home every night).
Wednesday morning you help load up your truck and drive to El Paso, TX where you will make local deliveries there for a half day.
Thursday you will make local deliveries all day in El Paso (usually have a Lumper to help you this day)
Friday you finish your deliveries and head back to Phoenix and usually get home no later than 7:00 pm.
Saturday and Sunday you are ALWAYS OFF
Company treats its employees GOOD.
You do need to be able to drive both a small Class A (36-foot box truck)
As well as a large Commercial Class B 26 ft. Box Truck with air brakes that has a small refer unit behind the cab occasionally for local deliveries.
It requires good driving skills as well as Physically Fit Person with the ability to get up and down out of commercial class B trucks 40 to 50 times a day reasonably QUICKLY when making your 10 to 15 stops each day (about 4 trips in and out of truck at each stop but do know that you have a lift gate).
Also need to good aptitude of paying attention to DETAILS as we have about 100 different SKU's that you could be delivering.
You must have a good driving record but one ticket in last 3 years or two tickets in last 5 years is OK.
Also note that a criminal background will be performed in addition to a DRUG TEST prior to employment.
