Position: Boat Mechanic I
Work Site: 7220 North Lake Blvd, Tahoe Vista, CA 96148
Training: May 1st through June 1st, ASAP start date this year
Season: June 1st through October 15th, advancement opportunities, year-round employment for the right candidates
Full Time: 5 days a week, 8 hours a day/ 4 days, 10 hour days

We are seeking a Boat Mechanic I to join our team and contribute to maintaining our fleet of brand new boats (less than 5 years old) in top-notch condition. Position Overview:
As a Boat Mechanic at NLTBR, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our boats. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various boat systems, engines, and equipment for the entire rental fleet. This position offers a unique opportunity to work gain valuable hands-on experience.
Desirable Traits and Skills for this Position:
Proven experience as a boat mechanic or similar role. NLTBR will also look at recent graduates from a Marine Technician School.
Strong mechanical skills with the ability to diagnose and repair boat engines and systems.
Knowledge of marine engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and boat models.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on boat engines and systems.
Detail and clean exterior water spots and hull maintenance.
Create videos detailing work done for our YouTube channel.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure the safety and reliability of boats.
Maintain accurate records of service and repairs.
Collaborate with the dock team to coordinate boat maintenance schedules.
Assist with launching and retrieving boats from the water.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
Assist with additional tasks related to rental operations as needed.
REQUIREMENTS: Work Environment
Professional and friendly as the job may require interaction with customers.
Must have flexible schedule to include working weekends and holidays during busy season
Good health and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to swim.
Must enjoy working in an outdoor environment and in a team environment.
Can conduct routine daily tasks with limited or no supervision after the initial training period.
Accountable and have a desire to continuously improve your mechanical skills.
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the work site.
Desirable Additional traits/skills to add to the position:
Technical expertise in Volvo Penta engines or other marine engine brands.
Experience in boat repairs, electrical systems, and audio equipment.
Knowledge of boat trailer maintenance and repair.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for marine engines.
Familiarity with safety regulations and standards in the marine industry.
Disqualifications for the position:
Lack of accountability or a reluctance to learn and adapt.
Inability to work effectively in a team environment.
Not completing work in a timely manner.
A history of subpar work quality or disregard for safety protocols.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
Pay range of $20 to $30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Company provided tools
Paychecks are distributed bi-monthly. With the right candidate we will hire full time work throughout the winter.
Company boats for personal use on days off (depending on availability).
Occasional (Weekly minimum) Employee Meals/Coffee/BBQ - Cooked on-site or bought for employees.
Company is required to withhold applicable federal taxes from paychecks.
Covered for work-related injuries/illnesses by our maritime insurance.
Unemployment insurance.
Employees reimbursed for educational expenses related to employment or advancing education.
